What Did Our Ancestors Say About the Sun?

Posted on May 15th, 2006 by Electricbrave : Earth Friendly Media Electricbrave
Your #1 Source for Earth Science News, solar storms, solar flares, cmes, earthquakes, volcanoes, tornadoes, hurricanes, comets, asteroids, severe weatherThe knowledge of our Sun and its effect on our lives has been known for centuries. Yes it is true we have increased knowledge of the Sun intricate workings and its correlation to our climate and long term trends. But it was not until the book ‘Solar Rain’ was published did we realize a much closer and more immediate causal effect to us and our home.

Upon the arrival of ‘Solar Rain’ we see a close 48 to 72 hour interaction between what happens on the Sun, in the way of charged particle i.e. solar flares, cme’s, and coronal holes, and the symbiotic relation to our weather and natural phenomena. But there is something I believe we overlooked, but our ancestors didn’t. This is the magnetic effect the Sun has on ‘all living things’. As you have seen in parts I II and III, current modern science has confirmed the effects of magnetic flux or waves, has on our emotional body.

So lets take a look at what previous civilizations believed, and in many cases understood.

The Sun – Earth Connection:  A linage showing when the Old (ancestors) meets the New (science)

THE OLD -  A historical view of ancient wisdom

3000 BC: NEWGRANGE - Known in Gaelic as Uaimh na Greine, "the cave of the Sun," Newgrange , Ireland was built. It is the oldest known structure with evidence of scientific thought. On winter solstice, the Sunlight perfectly aligns with an opening in the structure to illuminate the inner chamber. Newgrange is also known as a scared place of burial. Archaeologists classify New Grange as a passage tomb, but for its builders, New Grange was much more than simply a place of burial. It housed the spirits of their ancestors, providing a link for the living community to the world of their deities and serving as a focal point for ritual and celebrati! on. Did ancients of Ireland know of a magnetic influence to harmonize the body…living or dead?

2700-1700 BC: STONEHENGE -  in England , was built in approximately 3000 BC. It was a giant circle of huge stones that were aligned to the position of the Sun.

Already in the 18th century the British antiquarian William Stukeley had noticed that the horseshoe of great trilithons and the horseshoe of 19 bluestones at Stonehenge opened up in the direction of the midsummer Sunrise. It was quickly surmised that the monument must have been deliberately oriented and planned so that on midsummer's morning the Sun rose directly over the Heel Stone and the first rays shone into the centre of the monument between the open arms of the horseshoe arrangement.

This discovery has had tremendous impact on how Stonehenge has been interpreted. For Stukeley in the 18th century and Sir Norman Lockyer in the first years of the 20th century, this alignment implied a ritualistic connection with Sun worship and it was generally concluded that Stonehenge was constructed as a temple to the Sun. More recently, though, the astronomer Gerald Hawkins has argued that Stonehenge is not merely aligned with solar and lunar astronomical events, but can be used to predict other events such as eclipses. In other words, Stonehenge was more than a temple, it was an astronomical calculator.

4th Century BC: ARISTOTLE - Greek philosopher.  Aristotle's thoughts on earth sciences can be found in his treatise Meteorology -- the word today means the study of weather, but Aristotle used the word in a much broader sense, covering, as he put it, "all the affections we may call common to air and water, and the kinds and parts of the earth and the affections of its parts." Here he discusses the nature of the earth and the oceans. He worked out the hydrologic cycle:

"Now the Sun, moving as it does, sets up processes of change and becoming and decay, and by its agency the finest and sweetest water is every day carried up and is dissolved into vapour and rises to the upper region, where it is condensed again by the cold and so returns to the earth." He discusses winds, earthquakes (which he thought were caused by underground winds), thunder, lightning, rainbows, and meteors, comets, and the Milky Way (which he thought were atmospheric phenomena). His model of Earth history contains some remarkably modern-sounding ideas

800 AD: CHICHIN ITZA: El Castillo is the largest and tallest building (24 m high) in Chichén-Itzá, reaching 30 m in height. It has four sets of stairs, with one on each side; each set of stairs has 91 steps, for a total of 364. With the addition of the step at the top of the temple makes the total 365, and is equivalent to the number of days in the solar year. It is thought that El Castillo was built in honor of the Sun God. Serpents and tigers are displayed on the façade, showing that both were worshiped. Colossal serpent heads are seen at the base of the stairs, representing the God Kukulkan.

The construction of El Castillo was planned so that at each Vernal Equinox (March 21 and September 21) the dying Sun would cast a shadow of a serpent writhing down the steps of the pyramid. Every year, over 40,000 people travel to Chichén-Itzá to see the great snake slowly appear down the steps of this massive pyramid.

850 AD: CHACO CANYON - The ‘Anasazi’ native tribe were intimately aware of all their surroundings. They were close observers of the skies and seasonal cycles, and their observations provided them with the invaluable ability to time their agricultural and ceremonial events, which were central to their survival. Today, Pueblo descendants carry on many of these same traditions.

Many researchers feel the predictive markers represent the most important markers, for it would be at such a place that the "Sunwatcher" would actually gather important information so as to determine preparation times for ceremonial events or agricultural activities.

Near the east end of Chaco Culture NHP lies a rock with several Navajo Sun symbols etched into its surface. Viewed from a particular flat stone "seat", on the winter solstice, the Sun rises in a notch created where the stone meets the farther horizon. The edge of the stone lies at an angle against the sky. This angle is the same as that of the Sun's rising, so that as the Sun climbs into the sky it follows the edge of the stone for about 40 minutes. Clouds may come and go, but at anytime during the Sun's ascent in that 40 minutes, if there is even a moment of clear sky, a watcher can determine the winter solstice has arrived.

THE NEW - Modern Science begins its great journey:

1983: Launch of manned SpaceLab gave long term high-resolution photographs of the Sun's surface.

1990: Ulysses, an interplanetary spacecraft, was launched with the mission to measure the solar wind and magnetic field over the Sun's poles during periods of both high and low solar activity.

1991: Launch of the YOHKOH spacecraft, photographing the Sun in x-ray emission over a full solar cycle (11 years). http://hesperia.gsfc.nasa.gov/sftheory/yohkoh.htm

1995: The Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) is a joint project of the United States (NASA) and the European Space Agency (ESA). SOHO is at a point in space where the Sun's gravitational pull balances Earth's gravitational pull, so the satellite orbits the Sun with Earth. SOHO always faces the Sun. SOHO returned some of the amazing images of the Sun seen in SOLARMAX.

1998: Launch of the TRACE satellite, giving unprecedented close-up pictures of the Sun and its magnetic field lines.

1998: Construction began on a huge new space station, a joint endeavor among many countries.

2000: YOHKOH, SOHO and TRACE images for SOLARMAX.

2003: ‘Solar Rain’ (The Earth Changes Have Begun) – First documented evidence showing a 48 to 72 hour causal effect on Earth’s weather. Also displays evidence which points to a symbiotic relationship between the Sun’s emitting of charged particles and its magnetic effect on all living things. (See Equation)

Equation:
Sunspots => Solar Flares => Magnetic Field Shift => Shifting Ocean and Jet Stream Currents => Extreme Weather and Human Disruption (mitch battros)

Solar Rain brilliantly lays out chapter by chapter a Sun-Earth causal effect which occurs within hours of its initial event. It develops so rapidly, that what happens on the Sun, can effect what happens on the Earth before many of you will finish the first three chapters.

Equation:
Sunspots => Solar Flares => Magnetic Field Shift => Shifting Ocean and Jet Stream Currents => Extreme Weather and Human Disruption (mitch battros)

I have taken intense precautions to carefully weave the threads of science (new), with ancient text (old), to deliver the most accurate and factual science based material bringing you to the window of change. Here you will see the making of a new paradigm which is rare and is unfolding in our lifetime.

WhiteWolf : White Wolf has left the building...

Fascinating stuff. The most amazing is the ancient cultures that understood far more than has been let on. We had been raised to believe these were primative cultures. Not so primative are they?

WhiteWolf …….. I was thinking something similar the other day.  I was not thinking about  “evolution of the body” ……but of evolution of the human “mind”.  Then I started to think about some of our ancient teachers and texts and thought that “intelligence” has been around for a while.

I have been thinking more of how generation upon generation has built up on itself…..passing along old wisdom……joining with new wisdom…..creating a current collective wisdom.  Now that technology has advanced……..we can put some “old” ideas to rest because we know by science what the truth is in some cases.

But to assume that there are no good truths from ancient times and to brush all off as superstition I think is very careless.

I've started to understand that “the ancients” knew some very deep truths……….however they just explained it maybe in “mystical” terms.

They knew the significance of the sun………….but their beliefs, ways of worship encircling the sun today would have us “insignify” those beliefs………because perhaps it is just too weird for us.  These days unless science explains it for us…………it is considered “out in left field”……”religious crazyness”………………

ahhhhhhhh………but how I loved learning from my grandmother !

Thanks Electric……….you always post such informative stuff!!!
